SESSION AMERICANA COVERS AMY CORREIA’S “LOVE CHANGES EVERYTHING” WITH GRIT AND POWER

January 6, 2013 | No Comments

I’m so happy and proud that the Boston-based Session Americana recorded a rousing rendition of  “Love Changes Everything” on their latest album, Love and Dirt, which was nominated for a Boston Music Award in 2012!

The stellar arrangement of the song was also chosen as a Top Ten Song of 2012 by The Boston Herald

#9 “The Cambridge institution’s cover of Amy Correia’s Love Changes Everything picks up speed with every acoustic guitar strum, every new voice and harmony, chugging toward a brilliant climax. The ride is full of love and nostalgia, grit and power. ” – Jed Gottlieb, The Boston Herald

The Boston Business Journal named the song a “top track” on the album which garnered inclusion on their Top 40 Best Boston Album OF ALL TIME.

“LET’S MAKE NICE” DUET WITH JOHN POWHIDA

December 25, 2012 | No Comments

John Powhida is a wonderful songwriter in Boston who invited me to sing this song he wrote called “let’s make nice.” He heads up the band John Powhida International Airport and he really makes me want to dance.  He once asked me to sing “Highway to Hell” at a show with him and you can see the performance on youtube. I really love singing and playing music with this fella: John Powhida.

LUCY KAPLANSKY MAKES “DELIGHTFUL AMY CORREIA COVER” OF “LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL”

December 14, 2012 | No Comments

I’m really honored that Lucy Kaplansky has chosen to record one of my songs on her latest album “Reunion”. Thank you, Lucy!

Hear/Buy Lucy’s lovely version of the song here: http://www.amazon.com/Life-Is-Beautiful/dp/B0092PQQAM

“Reunion” is songwriter Lucy Kaplansky’s most assured record to date, bounding from the delightful Amy Correia cover “Life Is Beautiful” to the stinging kiss-off “Gone Gone Gone” without swerving off course. The theme of “family” serves as a compass as Kaplansky charts a course from “Scavenger,” a song about a refugee rebuilding life on the move, to “Sleep Well,” a tender goodbye to a mother.” – The Boston Globe

Marseille, Mon Amour! Photos from Le Lounge

November 24, 2012 | No Comments

I played a really fun solo show at Le Lounge in Marseille with two French bands in the “gothic country” vein last month: Curwen’s Odd Legacy and Slim Wild Boar.

One of the band members of Curwen’s, Yoann Guyot, kindly sent me an email before the show to say hello, and I suggested we do a few songs together.

I ended up singing with them on Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and one of their original tunes called “The Seeker”. They played with me on my songs “Blind River Boy” and “Love is”.

The lead singer turned out to be a designer and master stone worker as well as songwriter.  I later helped him translate his bio into English, but his incredible work speaks for itself.  See Alexandre Marque’s work

Alexandre Marque is also a master stone cutter and architectural designer

His sister Amandine is a photographer and took these photos, except for the one of me and the barkeep. A Marseille native, I thought she was really cool, and she approved of my version of La Vie En Rose, which I sang an encore and the enthusiastic crowd sang along…

I chatted with Yoann’s wife after the show, Aline Guyot, who has just finished her first novel. It was a wonderful night and I think Marseille is very cool. I could see living there…
